Eagle weighs separate rules for veterinary clinics and animal hospitals

A requested code change would treat the two as distinct uses. Clinics could operate up to 12 hours a day, hospitals up to 24. Hospitals with outdoor use beyond bathroom breaks would need a conditional use permit. The City Council heard it Feb. 10; no decision is on file.

About this application

The City of Eagle is considering a change to its zoning code that separates veterinary clinics from veterinary hospitals and sets different rules for each. Clinics would operate no more than 12 hours a day, while hospitals could operate 24 hours and keep animals overnight. Hospitals with any outdoor animal use beyond bathroom breaks would need a conditional use permit.

814 Services, LLC, is requesting zoning ordinance text amendment approval to amend Title 8, Chapter 1, Section 2 "Rules and Definitions, Chapter 2, Section 3, "Official Schedule of District Regulations", and Chapter 3, Section 5, "Unique Land Uses" to differentiate the "Veterinary Animal Hospital" from "Veterinary Animal Clinic" use and to establish individual standards and zoning requirements in accordance with Idaho Code 67-6526; providing a severability clause; and providing an effective date.
