Two-lot rural split with private road and home bridal shop heads to county commissioners

The plan would divide existing rural homesites into two lots served by a new private road, with a bridal shop run from an existing home on the smaller lot. It needs a lot-size variance, and no new buildings are proposed. Commissioners hold a hearing Nov. 18.

The applicant asks to split a rural property at 5688, 5720 and 5956 W. Overland Road near Meridian into a 6.18-acre lot and a 1-acre lot, served by a new private road. The request also includes a variance for the 1-acre lot size and for two existing homes joined by a breezeway that sit too close to the new lot line, a boundary adjustment with a neighboring parcel, and a by-appointment bridal shop run from one home. Staff recommends denying the subdivision and variance and approving the private road, boundary adjustment and bridal shop.

An application for a two (2) lot subdivision along with a private road, accessory use application for a large home occupation (bridal shop), property boundary adjustment, and a variance for minimum lot size and for existing structures to encroach into the side yard setbacks.
