15-foot strip of public right-of-way would go to urban renewal agency
The City Council hearing is set for Oct. 19. The ordinance would transfer the strip to the Urban Renewal Agency, which must seek redevelopment proposals for the plaza. Pedestrian access must be kept, and developers must submit a parking plan.

The Caldwell Urban Renewal Agency has asked the City to vacate a portion of the 6th Avenue right-of-way between Main Street and Arthur Street in downtown Caldwell, now used as part of the 6th Avenue Plaza. The vacated land would be transferred to the agency and offered, together with two agency-owned parcels and the plaza, in a competitive request for proposals to redevelop the four parcels as a single project.
