Request to rezone 6.19 acres for a second home denied by county commissioners

The Browns sought to split the land into two parcels, keeping their home and adding one for a family member. On May 7, commissioners found the rezone could allow up to three parcels and six homes, which they judged out of character with the area.

Colby and Amy Brown asked Canyon County to rezone a 6.19-acre property at 24403 Falcon Lane near Caldwell and Middleton from Agricultural to Rural Residential. The rezone would let them split the land into two parcels of about 4 and 2 acres, keeping their existing home and adding one new home for a family member. The Planning and Zoning Commission recommended denial, and the County Commissioners are scheduled to consider the request on May 7, 2026.

The applicants, Colby and Amy Brown, request an amendment to the official zoning map to rezone the property from Agricultural “A” to Rural Residential “R-R”. An administrative land division will be required to divide the property into two (2) parcels if the rezone is approved.
