Canyon County confirms Caldwell's area of city impact under state law
The county approved an ordinance on Nov. 12 confirming and modifying the boundary of the unincorporated land around Caldwell where the city has a planning say, replacing the older map in county code. The change was required by a 2024 state law with a Dec. 31, 2025 deadline.

The City of Caldwell asks Canyon County to confirm its existing area of city impact, the unincorporated land around the city where growth is expected, as required by a 2024 state law that sets a December 31, 2025 deadline. The city is not proposing any changes to the boundary, which covers about 13,185 acres according to GIS data. Staff recommends approval, with an added recommendation to bring all parcels now inside city limits into the area.
The applicant, City of Caldwell, represented by Robin Collins, requests an ordinance update to comply with State Law 67-6526, by providing evidence the city can serve and grow into the proposed area of impact (Exhibit A).
