Canyon County confirms Nampa's area of impact, leaves disputed Boise River strip out

The county commissioners adopted a final boundary map for Nampa's area of impact, the unincorporated land the city expects to grow into, and amended county code to match on Nov. 19. A strip near the Boise River shared with Star was left outside both cities' areas of impact.

The City of Nampa asked Canyon County to confirm and reestablish its existing area of impact, the unincorporated land where the city expects to grow and may later annex, between the Boise River on the north, the Ada County line on the east, Lake Shore Drive on the south, and Lake Lowell and Caldwell's boundary on the west. The staff report notes no change to the current boundary is requested, and the City of Star has also asked that an area just south of the Boise River be added to its own area of impact, which overlaps Nampa's.

The applicant, City of Nampa, requests an ordinance update to comply with State Law 67-6526, by confirming the existing Area of Impact. The City of Nampa requests that the Canyon County Board of Commissioners confirm and reestablish Nampa’s existing Impact Area boundary that is roughly bound by the Boise River to the north between Madison Rd. and N. Can Ada Rd., the county line to the east, Lake Shore Dr. to the south, and Lake Lowell and Caldwell’s previously established Impact Area boundary to the west.
