Pacific Steel and Recycling proposes a private landfill, called a repository, for auto shredder residue (fine metal, plastic and glass left over from recycling) on a 122-acre site about 14 miles northeast of Mountain Home. It would receive only residue from the company's existing shredder, hauled by up to 10 semi-truckloads a day, and be built in 11 phases covering 82.9 acres. The finished waste fill would rise roughly 96 to 108 feet above existing grade, with a small office and shop, lined cells and a leachate pond.
