Garden City approves Ada County plan for coroner, jail and EMS impact fees

The Garden City Council approved adding Ada County's capital improvement plans and impact fee studies for the county coroner, jail and emergency medical services to the city's comprehensive plan on Oct. 27. Approval does not impose any fees; a separate city ordinance and agreement would be needed first.

Ada County has asked Garden City to add its capital improvement plans and impact fee studies for county coroner, jail, and emergency medical services to the city's comprehensive plan. This would let the city consider charging new homes and businesses fees to help pay for those services, but the city would still need a separate ordinance before any fee could be collected. The proposed fees would be $750 per single-family home and $519 per multi-family unit, with separate per-square-foot rates for retail, office, industrial, and institutional buildings.
