Nampa couple wins approval for 2-foot privacy screen atop backyard fence

The city approved a staff-level variance allowing an 8-foot total fence height on the rear property line, where a sloping yard made the existing 6-foot fence feel shorter. Approval applies only if a building permit is issued and construction is finished within six months.

From the filing

The application's description as it appears in City of Nampa's record. See the official record

Matthew and Gina Galli received a staff-level variance to build a fence 8 feet tall at their home at 58 S Norcrest Avenue in Nampa, a single-family residential lot of about one-fifth of an acre. The city's six-foot fence limit for rear and side yards would otherwise apply, and the approval allows a two-foot privacy screen on top of the existing six-foot fence along the rear property line. The city found the lot's rear fence line sits well below the grade of the house, which reduced privacy.

Construct privacy screen (lattice work) not to exceed 8 feet.
