Chain link fence request for new city fleet services building withdrawn

The city sought a variance to use a chain link fence screened by trees and shrubs, instead of a wrought iron fence, at a planned 22,900-square-foot fleet services center. The request, which would have saved about $47,800, was withdrawn.

The application's description as it appears in City of Nampa's record. See the official record

City of Nampa is proposing new construction of a 22,900 sf industrial building to house new fleet services center for the city of Nampa. Variance is to allow for the proposal of a galvanized chain link fence that would be screened by landscaping in lieu of a more decorative fence such as a wrought iron fence. Approval of variance would save the city roughly $47,000 in construction costs for the wrought iron fence. Variance to NCC 10-34-10.B.6.a which specifies "The use of chain link and chain link with slats along any street frontage shall be prohibited." and "Fencing constructed with materials such as chain link, chain link with slats, corrugated metal, or typical residential wood and long expanses of solid single material fencing with no variation or visual interest are not permitted in areas that face a roadway, customer parking, or main drive aisle, that are visible from the right-of-way, or can be viewed by an adjacent non-industrial property."
